Hands on with the ViewSonic ViewBook VNB102:
Viewsonic
has been showing off a line of netbooks since January, but now it looks
like the company is finally ready to bring a low price mini-laptop to
market. The Viewsonic VNB102 is pretty much what you’d expect from a 10
inch netbook with an Intel Atom processor. It has 1GB of RAM, a 160GB
hard drive, a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU and 10.1 inch 1024 x 600 pixel
display. The laptop is shipping with Windows XP Home Edition and a 3
cell battery for $349. Another $50 will get you a model with a 6 cell
battery. The company had a demo unit running Linux on hand at the Pepcom
trade show in New York on Thursday night, but there are no plans to
sell the VNB102 with Linux. Still, I suppose it’s nice to know that it’s
Linux-ready, but given its similarities to virtually every other Atom
powered netbook on the market, I’d be more surprised if it couldn’t run a
Linux distribution or two. You can check out a few more photos after
the break. The folks at laptop Magazine also have details on ViewSonic’s
ViewBok Pro VNB132 which is a 13 inch laptop with a dual core Intel
CULV processor.

فعال ATOM N450 . بالإضافة إلى بطارية تدوم لأكثر من 12 ساعة نصف تقريباً .
The
Asus site and some e-shops have begun to display information about
upcoming models of EeePC with PineTrail Intel platform. This will come
as early as January 2010 and will not result in substantial differences
in performance compared to the current generation. For the netbook
sector (for nettop is a bit 'different) the new processors will be
called Atom N450 and Atom N470, with the first available immediately and
the second only to spring.
These new CPUs will consume less
electricity, will be the most technologically advanced of the current
(fanless) and take up less space allowing products thinner, lighter,
quieter and with greater autonomy. All performance leggermete best.
All
large companies have already prepared their first models with
PineTrail. Asus will introduce (at least initially) 1008P and the EeePC
EeePC 1005P/PE, all with 10-inch display, Atom N450, and Windows 7. In
practice this is an update to existing seashell, which could lead to
some news also from aesthetic point of view. For example, as discussed
in the particular 1008P-KR, it is possible that all new Seashell have a
removable battery and a keyboard "an island", so popular in recent
1201HA and 1201N.
Prices will not be far from current. From the
rumors and the little information you have seems to remain in the range
between 299 and 399 euros. It is likely that the new EeePC will have a
3-cell battery, which will still achieve great autonomy thanks to the
reduced consumption of the Intel platform. All this will lead to a
gradual abandonment of the models with XP yet, although a limited supply
on the market.
